Hi, everyone! 欢迎大家来到我们的《课文聊天室》，这次我们聊天的主题是“爱好”。瞧，《长江七号》的小主人公们与你相约……
陈俊生：不同的人有不同的爱好，我的爱好是收集贝壳。—How long have I been collecting shells? (我已经收集贝壳多长时间了？) —For ten years. (10年了)
how long意为“多长时间”，用来对句中for, since等引导的表示段时间的状语提问。如：
—How long has Mr Brown been in Zhengzhou?
—Since two years ago.
【拓展】 how soon意为“多久，多长时间”，用来对句中in two days, in no time, very soon等表示将来的时间状语提问。如：
—How soon will your father come back?
—In two months.
how often意为“多长时间一次”，对句中often, always, once a week等表示频度的副词或短语提问。如：
—How often does your school have sports meeting?
—Twice a year.
小狄：我喜欢滑冰。Here, some students are skating to raise money for charity. （这儿，为了给慈善事业募捐，许多学生正在滑冰。）
raise money 募捐
raise... for... 意为“为……募集”。 如： Some singers raise lots of money for the poor students to go to school. （一些歌手为了贫穷学生能上学而募集很多资金。）
raise 含义很多，常见的有：
1.举起，抬起 如： raise one’s hand 举手
2. 抬起，升高 如： raise prices 涨价
暴龙：我喜欢球状怪物， globe monster，不过妈妈对我这一爱好有看法。My mom says I have to stop, because we’ve run out of room to store them. (我妈妈说我必须停止了，因为我用光了室内的空间储存他们。）
run out of 用完，用光 如： He has run out of red ink. (他的红墨水用完了。)
room作不可数名词时，意为“空间，地方”。如： I’m afraid that there is no room for you in my car, because there are already five people. (恐怕我的车里没有你的地方了，因为已经有5个人了。)
美娇：我们都在展示自己的爱好。By the way, what’s your hobby? （顺便问一下，你的爱好是什么？）
by the way 顺便说一下 如： By the way, may I ask you a question? （顺便说一下，我可以问你一个问题吗？）
【拓展】 on the / one’s way (to) 在去……的路上 如： On the way to that factory we visited a school. （在去那个工厂的路上，我们参观了一所学校。）
in the way 在路上（挡道的） 如： Don’t stand in the way. （闪开, 别挡道。）
七仔：我的爱好是帮助外国人更好地了解中国。My friend says, “For a foreigner like me, the more I learn about Chinese history, the more I enjoy living in China. (我的朋友说：“对于像我这样的外国人，我对中国历史了解得越多，我就越喜欢住在中国。”)
the + 比较级..., the + 比较级...表示“越来越……”。如：The more we listen to the teacher, the more we understand. （我们听老师讲得越多，就懂得越多。）
