American schools begin in September after a long summer vacation. There are two terms in a school year: the first term is from September to January, and the second is from February to June. Most American children go to public schools.

High school students take only four or five subjects at a time. They usually go to the same classes every day, and they have an assignment for every class. After class they have many activities.

After high school, many students go to college. They can choose a small one or a large one. They usually have to pay a lot of money for college education. But there are scholarships for good students, and many college students work part time in order to get money for education.

漫长的暑假过后,美国的学校是在九月份开学。每一学年有两个学期:第一学期从九月到(来年)一月,第二学期从二月到六月。多数美国孩子是去公立学校读书。

中学生一次只选四、五门学科。每天他们通常去相同的班级上课，并且每节课都有课外作业。课后他们从事很多活动。

中学毕业以后，很多学生去上大学。他们可以选择一个规模小的学校，也可以选择一个规模大的学校。他们为大学教育花费很多钱。可是对成绩优异的学生来说也有奖学金，不过许多大学生半工半读，为的是筹集学费。
