Animals in Winter
Winter is cold. There is snow on the ground. People live in warm houses. How do animals spend the winter?
Some animals sleep all winter. It is a very deep sleep called hibernation. They need little or no food, like frogs, snakes and even some insects. Other animals stay active in winter. It is hard for them to find food. They may live in holes or under the ground to stay warm. Some birds fly to the south for the winter. We call this migration. They go to a warmer place to find food. Other birds stay in the north all winter. People can help by feeding them.
冬天是寒冷的，雪落大地。人们住在温暖的房子里。动物怎样度过它们的冬天呢？
有些动物会睡上一整个冬天,这种沉睡叫做冬眠。它们几乎不需要食物，像青蛙、蛇还有某些昆虫。另外一些动物则在冬天处于活动状态。对它们来说寻找食物是有些困难的。它们躲在洞里或者在地下取暖。有些鸟儿飞去南方过冬，我们称此为迁徙。它们去到温暖的地方寻找食物。另外一些鸟儿整个冬天都留在北方。人们可以喂养它们。
